Job summary

Nordstrom is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to lead the design and delivery of agentic AI solutions at scale in Seattle. You will work across orchestration, tool-use pipelines, and enterprise integrations to create safe, reliable agent systems.

You’ll mentor teammates and drive technical decision-making in cross-functional settings. You will apply advanced AI techniques, evaluation frameworks, and guardrails, balancing performance, cost, and security while shaping the user experience for

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering, with experience in scalable distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, foundation models APIs, and prompt engineering.
• Experience designing, building, and operating AI agents or agentic workflows.
• Ability to assemble context for agents considering token, latency, and cost constraints.
• Experience designing evaluation frameworks and safety guardrails for LLM systems.
• Familiarity with memory patterns for agents and durable workflow state.

Responsibilities

• Define and design agentic solutions with measurable outcomes.
• Build end-to-end agentic systems including orchestration and tool-use pipelines.
• Own cross-team design reviews and ensure high quality and security standards.
• Develop evaluations and guardrails for safe, reliable deployments.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring with clear feedback.
