Job summary

Nordstrom seeks a Senior Engineer 2 in Seattle to own data and integration engineering for Merchandise Planning. Build, run, and scale data pipelines connecting planning platforms to enterprise systems and data warehouses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably computer science, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of professional experience delivering quality software with a focus on data and integration engineering.
• Strong proficiency in data pipeline and integration engineering: hands-on experience building batch and orchestrated pipelines with Apache Airflow, Python and Apache Spark.
• Cloud data warehouse expertise: BigQuery or similar.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills for analytics and reporting use cases.
• API and integration skills: RESTful APIs and SaaS integrations.
• Experience enabling or integrating enterprise SaaS planning or supply chain platforms.
• Analytics and reporting experience, Looker or similar BI.
• DevOps and deployment: CI/CD, Docker, cloud services, deployment best practices.
• AI-assisted software development using AI coding tools.
• Relational and NoSQL databases familiarity.
• Strong problem solving, Agile/Scrum collaboration, system design knowledge.
• Domain knowledge in merchandise planning is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, build, and operate data integration pipelines connecting the planning platform to enterprise systems and data warehouse.
• Design and maintain batch and orchestrated pipelines using Airflow, Python, and Spark.
• Extend the SaaS planning platform for Merchandising, Assortment, Item Planning, and Forecasting workflows.
• Develop analytics and reporting on planning data using Looker and BigQuery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Own data quality, reconciliation, and observability for the integration stack.
• Contribute to CI/CD, cloud migration, and AI-enabled development practices.
• Design AI agents to automate and augment planning and data workflow.
