Job summary

Nordstrom is seeking a Senior Engineer 2 on the Merchandise Ordering team in Seattle. You will own full-stack quality, develop front-end apps and backend services, and push AI-enabled workflows across purchase order processes.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive scalable, robust systems and mentor junior engineers. You will contribute to CI/CD, cloud migrations, and AI tooling, ensuring design clarity and successful execution of complex ordering solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (preferably CS)
• 8+ years of delivering quality software
• Strong front-end proficiency: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, modern frameworks
• Backend experience: Node.js/Express.js, Java/.NET, Python (Django/Flask)
• Databases: MySQL/PostgreSQL and MongoDB/Redis
• CI/CD, Docker, cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools
• Experience building enterprise-scale web apps
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Agile/Scrum collaboration across cross-functional teams
• Experience with system design, architecture, scaling, performance testing

Responsibilities

• Own the quality of a team’s work across full-stack solutions for order management
• Develop and optimize front-end applications and backend services
• Design, build, and maintain integrations for purchase order workflows
• Lead AI-enabled software development and shipping AI agents
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Planning, Vendor Compliance, and Supply Chain teams
• Contribute to CI/CD, cloud migration, testing, and observability
• Support production systems and participate in rotating on-call shifts
• Mentor junior engineers and drive engineering best practices
