Job summary

bareinsights is seeking a senior full-stack engineer to build next-generation security tooling and AI-driven defense products. You will own features from conception through deployment and help steer roadmap decisions in a fast-moving startup environment.

You will contribute across the stack with TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and Ruby on Rails, with potential work in Rust or Node.js for defense-focused initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and at least one modern backend OOP language (Java, Go, Python, C#, or similar).
• Hands-on experience with React for frontend development.
• Experience designing and consuming GraphQL APIs.
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails backend development.
• Demonstrated track record of shipping production software with real-world impact.
• Experience leading technical projects or mentoring junior engineers.
• Background working in a high-ownership startup environment (Series A–C scale or similar).
• Strong CS fundamentals, ideally from a rigorous academic or professional background.
• Comfort working on federal defense-related projects.
• Experience with Rust or Node.js is a plus.
• A GitHub profile or portfolio showing recent, hands-on coding activity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop full-stack features for experimental, cutting-edge products or foundational platform infrastructure.
• Own features end-to-end across the full product lifecycle — from planning and design through deployment and optimization.
• Step into a product management capacity when needed, contributing to roadmap decisions and prioritization.
• Build primarily with TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and Ruby on Rails, with opportunities to work in Rust or Node.js on new defense-focused products.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teammates in an iterative, high-quality delivery environment.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, helping shape team culture and elevate skills across the organization.
