bareinsights is seeking a senior full-stack engineer to build next-generation security tooling and AI-driven defense products. You will own features from conception through deployment and help steer roadmap decisions in a fast-moving startup environment.
You will contribute across the stack with TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and Ruby on Rails, with potential work in Rust or Node.js for defense-focused initiatives.
This is a full-stack senior engineering role at a Series B cybersecurity company pivoting toward AI-driven defense and cybersecurity tooling. You’ll be a key contributor building next-generation products for the U.S. federal defense industrial base, operating with high ownership and minimal oversight in a fast-moving, product-focused environment.
Develop full-stack features for experimental, cutting-edge products or foundational platform infrastructure.
Own features end-to-end across the full product lifecycle — from planning and design through deployment and optimization.
Step into a product management capacity when needed, contributing to roadmap decisions and prioritization.
Build primarily with TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and Ruby on Rails , with opportunities to work in Rust or Node.js on new defense-focused products.
Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teammates in an iterative, high-quality delivery environment.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, helping shape team culture and elevate skills across the organization.
5+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend systems or full-stack applications.
Strong proficiency in TypeScript and at least one modern backend OOP language (Java, Go, Python, C#, or similar).
Hands-on experience with React for frontend development.
Experience designing and consuming GraphQL APIs.
Proficiency in Ruby on Rails backend development.
Demonstrated track record of shipping production software with real-world impact.
Experience leading technical projects or mentoring junior engineers.
Background working in a high-ownership startup environment (Series A–C scale or similar).
Strong CS fundamentals, ideally from a rigorous academic or professional background.
Comfort working on federal defense-related projects.
Experience with Rust or Node.js is a plus.
A GitHub profile or portfolio showing recent, hands‑on coding activity is a plus.
Salary range: $190,000 – $240,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Hybrid — primary location is New York City, NY, USA. Candidates should be located in or willing to relocate to New York City.
