Job summary

Capital One is seeking an Automation Quality Engineer within a Full-stack engineering team. You will design automated test frameworks, lead cross-functional projects, and work with Java, Python, Go, Node.js and TypeScript across AWS cloud and containerized environments.

You will mentor engineers, contribute to architectural decisions, and push for high-quality, scalable test strategies in a fast-paced Agile setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or related quantitative field.
• At least 4 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) or virtualization technologies.
• 7+ years of experience coding in multiple languages (Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, Scala).
• 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure or cloud-based productivity tools or virtualization technologies.
• 4+ years of experience contributing to open source frameworks.
• 3+ years of experience with frontend JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
• 3+ years of experience with APIs, CI/CD, IaC and automated testing.
• 3+ years of experience with Git-based version control.
• 3+ years of troubleshooting cloud environments.
• Experience with AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.
• 1+ year mentoring engineers and driving development.
• 1+ year observability for performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
• Experience with interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse tech projects and a team of developers with microservices and full-stack systems.
• Mentor other engineers and participate in technology communities.
• Collaborate with product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions for millions of users.
• Use Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript with databases and cloud services.
• Provide technical leadership and set standards for design, development and operations.
• Define service boundaries and reusable frameworks with architects.
• Identify refactoring opportunities to reduce technical debt and improve performance.
• Influence long-term tech strategy in a build-it-own-it environment.
