Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Full-stack Software Engineer (Automation Quality Engineer) to design automated test frameworks and drive end-to-end test strategy. You will work across a portfolio of microservices, mentoring engineers and aligning with product managers to deliver scalable cloud-based solutions.

The role requires strong coding skills in Java/JavaScript/TypeScript/Python/Go, experience with Docker, Kubernetes and AWS, and a track record in Agile environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)
• At least 4 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems
• Mentor other members of the engineering community and stay current with tech trends
• Collaborate with digital product managers and deliver robust cloud-based solutions for millions of Americans
• Utilize Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript and databases, plus Docker, Kubernetes and AWS services
• Provide technical leadership and direction across Agile teams, setting standards for design, development and operational excellence
• Define service boundaries and reusable frameworks with architects
• Identify and implement targeted refactoring to reduce technical debt and improve performance
• Influence long-term technology strategy in a 'you build it, you own it' environment
