Job summary

Lilly is seeking a versatile senior software engineer to build AI-powered platforms and enterprise apps within its SPE organization, spanning knowledge graphs, AI coding infra, data cataloging, and developer experience tooling.

You will work across frontend and backend stacks, design GraphQL APIs, and contribute to a scalable, well-documented codebase that accelerates delivery while ensuring quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production applications across frontend and backend technologies.
• Strong CS fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, systems design, networking, and how software works beneath frameworks.
• Experience with React/Next.js and at least one backend language (Python, Node.js, Go, or Java).
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and cloud-native deployment on AWS or equivalent.
• Comfortable debugging pods, reading cluster logs, and navigating cloud consoles.
• Experience with graph databases and data modeling.
• 1+ years of experience using AI-assisted development tools in regular workflow.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship full-stack applications across the SPE platform portfolio, owning features end to end.
• Develop frontends, APIs, and data layers using modern technologies including Next.js, React, TypeScript, Node.js, Python, GraphQL, and Neo4j.
• Contribute to architecture decisions with design docs and technical specs.
• Ensure production quality through testing, observability, clean code, and proper version control.
• Utilize AI-assisted tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining engineering judgment.
• Operate as a generalist across frontend, backend, data engineering, and DevOps as needed.
• Navigate AWS/EKS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines to support reliable deployments.
