Job summary

NuScale Power, LLC is seeking a senior Fuels Engineer 4 within the Nuclear Methods group. This role leads fuel thermal‑mechanical analysis, coordinating across neutronics, subchannel analysis, and system TH to ensure safe, high‑quality design outputs for next‑generation LWR fuel.

The position requires deep SME knowledge, engineering judgment, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while contributing to licensing reports and regulatory interactions.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (advanced degree desirable).
  • 8+ years of full‑time, directly relevant engineering experience in fuel TM analysis or related areas.
  • Eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary technical authority for fuel TM analysis methods (gap conductance, cladding strain, fatigue, creep, PCI, margins).
  • Incorporate industry advancements and benchmarking into NuScale’s TM framework.
  • Support interfacing methods with neutronics, subchannel analysis, and system thermal‑hydraulics.
  • Perform safety analyses using thermal‑mechanical tools and evaluate limits and margins for normal operation and DBEs.
  • Lead software benchmarking, qualification, and QA documentation.
  • Integrate TM methods with multi‑physics modeling across disciplines.
  • Provide technical leadership; mentor junior engineers and lead complex analyses.
  • Develop licensing documents and participate in licensing interactions with regulators.
