Job summary

Long Finch Technologies seeks a senior front-end engineer to lead the development of complex, user-facing web applications using React + TypeScript. You will own the front-end architecture and delivery, partnering with UX/Product to translate designs into polished experiences.

You will establish frontend standards, work with a design system, optimize performance, and ensure accessibility and security across browsers. Experience with SSR/Next.js and improving DX is a plus.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of professional software engineering with deep front-end experience and mentoring
• Expert-level React proficiency (hooks, composition, context, rendering behavior)
• Strong TypeScript skills (types as design, generics, strictness) and modern JavaScript fundamentals
• Experience with modern front-end tooling (Vite/Webpack, Babel/SWC, npm/pnpm/yarn, monorepos) and build/release pipelines
• Strong CSS skills: responsive design, CSS architecture, theming, scalable styling
• Advanced testing practices (Jest/Vitest, RTL, Playwright/Cypress) and test strategy ownership
• Accessibility expertise (WCAG/ARIA, keyboard navigation, screen readers) and automated/manual testing
• Performance engineering: profiling, bundle splitting, CSR/SSR trade-offs, Core Web Vitals
• API integration with GraphQL and REST (schema-driven development, pagination, caching)
• Security awareness for web apps (XSS/CSRF, secure auth/session patterns)
• Observability for frontend: client-side logging/metrics, error reporting
• Must: Proficiency using AI-assisted engineering tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot)
• Preferred SSR/meta frameworks (Next.js/Remix) and design systems (Storybook)
• Experience with micro-frontend patterns and module federation
• Visualization/UI tech (D3, Canvas/WebGL) and enterprise SSO familiarity
• DX improvements and legacy frontend modernization

Responsibilities

• Lead development of complex, user-facing web applications using React + TypeScript, owning frontend architecture and delivery
• Collaborate with UX/Product to translate designs into polished experiences and assess feasibility, performance, and accessibility
• Establish and evolve frontend standards: component architecture, state management, routing, testing practices
• Build on design system foundations and ensure responsive layouts, theming, and cross-browser compatibility
• Drive performance and quality: Core Web Vitals, bundle optimization, rendering strategies, caching, observability
• Implement advanced UI features such as rich data visualization, real-time updates, offline patterns, and complex forms/workflows
• Ensure secure client-side patterns: safe auth, token handling, secure storage, vulnerability protection
• Collaborate with backend teams on API contracts (GraphQL/REST) and advocate frontend-friendly patterns
