Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Specialist Firmware VHDL Engineer in San Diego, CA to shape secure RF communications. You will design FPGA architectures, develop high‑performance VHDL/Verilog, and validate designs with simulations and lab tests.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver mission-critical systems. Requirements include 6+ years of related experience (or 4+ with a graduate degree), VHDL proficiency, and the ability to obtain a Secret level clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher required with relevant experience.
• Advanced degree preferred for senior role; significant experience may substitute degree.
• At least 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree for some cases.

Responsibilities

• Translate system requirements into FPGA architectures and work estimates.
• Develop and optimize FPGA designs for advanced RF systems (filtering, mixing, modulation, ECC).
• Design, implement, and verify DSP algorithms for real-time signal processing.
• Run simulations, achieve timing closure, and verify on hardware.
• Collaborate with hardware, software and systems engineers on full system designs.
• Produce engineering artifacts: block diagrams, interface control documents, test procedures.
• Travel up to 10% for on-site integration and stakeholder engagement.
