Job summary

KBR, Inc. in Beavercreek, OH is seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer to lead design, development, integration, and debugging of FPGA-based DSP and RF systems.

The role requires hands-on FPGA work, DSP algorithm implementation, embedded processor integration, and lab bring-up in a mission-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have deep FPGA DSP experience, strong analysis, and the ability to lead across hardware, firmware, and software while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of FPGA/DSP/RF signal processing experience.
• Proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog.
• Experience with AMD or other major FPGA vendors.
• Experience with Vivado or similar toolchains.
• Familiarity with AXI-based architectures and Linux development.
• Experience with Git or similar version control systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain FPGA-based DSP architectures for advanced communications and RF systems.
• Lead FPGA logic development across SDR platforms, ensuring performance and interoperability.
• Implement and optimize real-time DSP algorithms in hardware (filters, FFTs, modulation).
• Integrate FPGA designs with embedded processors and system interfaces using AXI.
• Develop supporting software/firmware to control FPGA modules.
• Perform hardware bring-up and lab testing with RF and digital test equipment.
• Create testbenches and verification workflows to validate timing and functionality.
• Collaborate with RF, software, firmware, and systems engineers for end-to-end integration.
• Analyze FPGA performance and optimize throughput, latency, and resource use.
• Lead design reviews and contribute to system architecture decisions.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in DSP/FPGA.
