Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior FPGA Design and Verification Engineer to develop the digital signal processing and physical layer implementation for the Terawave modem. You will architect, design, implement, and verify FPGA-based modem solutions for robust space communications.

You will work across the full development lifecycle with systems, DSP/communications, RF, and avionics teams, using modern methodologies and lab bring-up. A strong background in RTL and DSP in FPGAs is required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of FPGA design and verification experience.
• Proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog.
• Experience with FPGA toolchains (Xilinx/AMD or Intel/Altera) and simulators.
• Experience with verification methodologies including self-checking testbenches and coverage.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design FPGA implementations of modem and physical layer functions on an SoC FPGA platform.
• Translate communications system and DSP algorithm requirements into RTL (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog).
• Develop and execute verification strategies, including UVM, constrained-random testbenches and coverage.
• Perform timing analysis, constraints, and timing closure for high-performance FPGA/SoC platforms.
• Support hardware bring-up, lab testing, debugging, and validation against system requirements.
• Collaborate with DSP/communications engineers to optimize physical layer algorithms for fixed-point FPGA implementations.
• Contribute to design reviews, documentation, and design-for-test/reliability practices for aerospace.
• Support radiation-tolerant and high-reliability design considerations for space-based applications.
