Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Senior FPGA Design Engineer for remote work from Oregon to support aerospace, defense, SATCOM and IR systems. You will translate complex system requirements into robust FPGA hardware, lead end-to-end development, verification, and field support, and mentor teammates.

You will work with Xilinx/Intel FPGA families, develop DSP within FPGAs, and ensure timing closure and robust testbenches using industry tools.

Qualifications

• 9+ years in digital electronics FPGA design with a bachelor's degree.
• Experience with Xilinx Vivado, Synplify Pro, and QuestaSim for verification.
• Proficient in HDL design using VHDL and/or Verilog.
• Understanding of synthesis, timing closure, and FPGA image generation.
• Ability to create robust testbenches and perform thorough verification.

Responsibilities

• Lead full life-cycle digital product development from concept to production and field support.
• Translate system requirements into detailed FPGA designs and test specs.
• Design, implement, and verify FPGA-based subsystems using major vendors.
• Develop, code, and verify FPGA designs in HDL (VHDL/Verilog).
• Create testbenches for functional verification (QuestaSim).
• Drive synthesis and timing closure using Vivado and Synplify Pro.
• Implement real-time DSP algorithms within FPGAs to ensure bit-exact behavior.
• Apply high-speed design techniques: pipelining, clock-domain management, FIFO usage.
• Read and create ICDs for subsystem integration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor engineers.
