Job summary

Northrop Grumman is hiring Principal/Sr. Principal FPGA Design Engineers in Rolling Meadows, IL. You will contribute across the FPGA development lifecycle, delivering high‑impact RF/EO/IR subsystems and on-board processing capabilities.

The role requires a strong background in RTL, timing closure, and lab integration, with opportunities for leadership and collaboration across domains. On-site position with relocation support and security clearances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years FPGA/ASIC design experience for Principal; 8 years for Sr. Principal.
• Proficiency with RTL design, synthesis, place & route, timing analysis, and power analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end FPGA development lifecycle from requirements to qualification.
• Develop FPGA-based digital subsystems for circuit card assemblies; integrate with systems and hardware.
• Create and execute self-checking RTL test benches and verification cases.
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines to troubleshoot and optimize designs.
