Job summary

Buckingham Search is partnering with a private equity-backed software company in Chicago to recruit a senior FP&A leader. You will own the budget, forecast and variance narrative for Product and Engineering, including headcount, contractors, cloud and software spend.

You will build ROI analyses, tie service costs to revenue, and develop margin views by line of business while shaping the annual plan and long-range plan for executives, investors and the board.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or CFA a plus.
• 7+ years in FP&A, strategic finance or business partnering, ideally supporting product or engineering teams.
• Experience in a PE-backed or high-growth SaaS company strongly preferred.
• Solid grasp of software cost structures, cloud economics and SaaS metrics.
• Strong modeling skills and the confidence to influence technical leaders.
• Hands-on experience with modern planning and BI tools and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Own the budget, forecast and variance story for Product and Engineering, including headcount, contractors, cloud and software spend.
• Tie service delivery costs to the revenue they support and build margin views by line of business.
• Build business cases, ROI and build-vs-buy analysis for new investments.
• Partner with accounting on development cost capitalization and unit economics.
• Shape the annual plan and long-range plan, and prepare materials for executives, investors and the board.
• Automate and simplify reporting so leaders get answers faster.
