Job summary

Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts & Sciences Library is seeking an Associate Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and multi-year resource stewardship across a diverse portfolio of operating, endowment, and restricted funds.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Minimum of 8 years’ relevant work experience.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Advanced knowledge of budget management, financial analysis, financial modeling; working knowledge of accounting principles.
• Advanced knowledge of financial systems and data query tools.
• Harvard financial administrative systems (HUBS, SmartView, Oracle, CAPS, CPATH, PeopleSoft) knowledge a plus.
• Ability to work in ambiguous environments and drive objectives to outcomes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate within a large organization.
• Strong consultative, project management, problem-solving and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead FP&A for Harvard College Library operating budget, forecasts, and multi-year financial plan.
• Advise budget managers on budget development, forecasting, fund management, and sustainability.
• Monitor funding sources, endowment income, gifts, and subventions; ensure donor intent compliance.
• Oversee fund balances, reserves, and spending trends for financial flexibility.
• Manage FTE and position planning to align with budgets and priorities.
• Perform variance analysis, scenario modeling, and long-range forecasting.
• Lead complex analyses and business cases supporting strategic initiatives.
