Job summary

ShipBob, Inc. in Chicago (HQ) is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our fast-paced FP&A team. You will conduct monthly transportation analyses, communicate driver variances to senior management, and help build bottoms-up forecasts for the budget.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years FP&A experience, strong financial modeling, and proficiency with NetSuite, SQL, Power BI, and Power Query. We offer a hybrid schedule, competitive pay, and a discretionary bonus plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance or related field.
• ~3–5 years of experience in FP&A or another related field.
• ~ Ability to work a hybrid schedule in our Chicago office.
• Excellent financial modeling skills and understanding of financial statements.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to various stakeholders.
• High comfort level with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of NetSuite, Smartview, SQL, PowerBI, and Power Query is preferred.
• Enjoy nurturing business partnerships with senior management and teams.
• Demonstrate the ability to influence stakeholders across the organization by thinking strategically and building and executing action plans.

Responsibilities

• Complete thorough analysis on transportation initiatives each month and communicate key performance drivers and variances to plan to senior management.
• Collaborate with partners to strategize and report on weekly performance, especially related to Transportation.
• Provide a timelier outlook on shifts in ship costs and margin.
• Manage relationships with Transportation team to build bottoms up forecasts and provide areas of risks and opportunities.
• Support the development and implementation of models and processes for new strategic transportation initiatives.
• Prepare the annual operating plan by engaging with the Transportation team to build appropriate plans and targets and convert this into the financial budget.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting presentations for investors and the board highlighting key business metrics, variance to budget and other relevant trends.
• Provide insightful study of key operational business metrics, develop margin analysis, and communicate findings to respective business partners.
• Utilize professional knowledge, business acumen, financial concepts, and company objectives to develop and improve models and procedures.
• Proactively provides solutions to business needs in creative and effective ways. Analyze and help optimize investments behind key company strategies.
• Network with stakeholders across the company to gain a better understanding of the key objectives and how you can help achieve them.
