Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to partner with federal government customers on data & AI challenges using the Databricks platform.

You will own architecture, guide design decisions, and implement end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development. This hands-on, customer-facing role requires building production-grade solutions with strong customer empathy and delivering results across multiple stakeholder groups.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Fluency in coding Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
• Experience with two+ cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP) and expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing using PySpark / Apache Spark.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design decisions ensuring secure, scalable solutions.
• Own end-to-end delivery from data ingestion to ML/AI integration.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams for successful delivery.
• Embed with customer teams and provide accelerators, frameworks, and best practices.
• Travel to customer locations 20-25% of the time.
