Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to work with federal, state, and local government customers, delivering end-to-end data and AI solutions using the Databricks platform.

You will own architecture, lead design decisions, and collaborate with engineering, product, and client teams to ensure secure, scalable outcomes. The role is hands-on, customer-facing, and expects travel to client sites 20-25% of the time, with hybrid work arrangements.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Fluency in writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications that combine data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user-facing interfaces.
• Experience with technical project delivery, documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience working with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across a broad stakeholder range.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design decisions for data, AI, and application delivery across government-focused engagements.
• Own end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.
• Deliver production-grade solutions, reference architectures, and integrations with client systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams to align on outcomes and timelines.
• Embed with customer teams and train stakeholders to maximize value; provide feedback to product roadmaps.
