Job summary

Veeam Software in San Jose is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to own the most complex customer deployments, guiding the technical strategy from deployment through daily use in hybrid environments.

You will design solutions across cloud, on‑premises, Kubernetes, and integrations, mentor teammates, and collaborate with Sales, Product, and Engineering on strategic POCs, escalations, and field feedback.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years in deeply technical, customer‑facing roles such as forward‑deployed engineering or solutions engineering.
• Strong software engineering in Python, Go or TypeScript and ability to read unfamiliar code.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, containers, Linux and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience deploying and operating solutions across complex cloud, hybrid, on‑prem environments.
• Strong understanding of APIs, data stores (SQL/NoSQL), and data workflows.
• Experience building practical technical solutions (data pipelines, integrations, automations, tools).
• Fluency with AI‑native developer tools and reusable workflows.
• Strong customer presence and ability to build trust with executives and teams.
• Knowledge of data security, privacy and regulatory topics across geographies.
• High ownership and ability to structure complex problems without a playbook.

Responsibilities

• Own technical delivery for the most complex customer accounts from deployment through scaled, everyday use.
• Lead deployments across hybrid environments, including cloud, on‑prem, Kubernetes, containers, Linux.
• Define solution architecture for customers with complex data estates, security needs and business requirements.
• Adapt platform behavior when standard configuration does not match data, workflows, or risk model.
• Build and operate integrations across customer systems (identity, SIEM, ITSM, data platforms, APIs).
• Diagnose and resolve deep technical issues across data, deployment, infrastructure and integration layers.
• Build reusable agents, automations, tools, and playbooks for faster, higher‑quality delivery.
• Turn manual outcomes into repeatable workflows for remediation, alerting, reporting, and follow‑up.
• Lead architecture and design sessions with executives, security and privacy leaders, and engineers.
• Mentor other FDEs by sharing patterns and helping unblock complex work.
