Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to work with federal government customers, owning architecture and leading end-to-end data, AI, and application solutions on the Databricks platform. The role emphasizes customer empathy, hands-on delivery, and cross-functional collaboration.

The position is hybrid with 20-25% travel to customer locations and requires US citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. government secret clearance.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Fluency in writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of two or more Cloud ecosystems with expertise in at least one (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments; working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design decisions, ensuring secure, scalable solutions.
• Own end-to-end delivery of data, AI, and application components.
• Embed with customer teams and deliver with strong stakeholder empathy.
• Deliver production-grade reference architectures and integration with client systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scale impact and capture feedback.
