Job summary

Databricks seeks a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to partner with customers across the data & AI landscape, owning architecture and end-to-end implementation on the Databricks platform. You will lead design decisions, deliver production-grade solutions, and train client teams while embedding with cross-functional groups to maximize value.

You will guide strategic customers through large-scale data projects, ensuring scalable, secure deployments and measurable outcomes, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms, analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with multiple cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) and at least one.
• Deep distributed computing with Apache Spark and Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and APIs.
• Architectures that combine data pipelines, ML/AI models, and UI.
• Experience delivering technical projects with measurable outcomes.
• Documentation and whiteboarding skills.
• Travel to customers 20% of time.
• Databricks Certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade customer projects by delivering reference architectures, custom applications and data ingestion and ML/AI model integration.
• Guide strategic customers through end-to-end design, build, and deployment of big data and AI applications.
• Bootstrapping or implementing customer projects to ensure successful adoption of Databricks.
• Own architecture decisions to keep solutions secure, scalable, and aligned with best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, PM, and customer teams to ensure timely delivery of engagement components.
• Provide product and support feedback to guide rapid issue resolution and product improvements.
