Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to work with federal, state, and local government customers to build and productionize data & AI solutions on the Databricks platform.

You will own the architecture, lead design decisions, and deliver end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development, with heavy customer collaboration. This is a hands-on, hybrid role with travel to client sites about 20-25%.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Fluency in writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade data and AI projects by delivering production-grade systems and reference architectures.
• Guide transformational big data projects from end-to-end design to deployment.
• Bootstrap or implement customer projects which leads to successful adoption of Databricks.
• Own architecture decisions ensuring security and scalability aligned with customer needs.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams to deliver technical components.
