Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to work with federal, state, and local government customers, owning architecture and end-to-end delivery of data and AI solutions on the Databricks platform.

You will lead design decisions, implement production-grade systems, and collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams to maximize value. This hands-on, customer-facing role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication, and a passion for solving complex problems

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Fluency in writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications that combine data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user-facing interfaces.
• Experience with technical project delivery, documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience working with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across a broad stakeholder range.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade systems and reference architectures for customer projects.
• Drive end-to-end design, build and deployment of big data and AI applications.
• Guide customers on architecture to enable adoption of Databricks.
• Own architecture decisions to ensure security and scalability.
• Deliver technical components with cross-functional teams to meet customer needs.
• Collaborate with engineers and support to provide implementation feedback.
• Embed with customer teams from ICs to executives to understand challenges.
• Contribute accelerators, frameworks, and best practices that scale across accounts.
