Job summary

Forward Air Corp. in Coppell, TX is seeking a Freight Handler (Forklift Operator) to safely load, unload, and move freight in a multimodal terminal. You will use sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE, with a focus on accuracy and documentation.

The role requires 3+ years dock experience, a valid forklift cert, and strong English communication. Expect varied shifts, physical work up to 12 hours, and opportunities to mentor newer team members while maintaining safety and productivity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure (or ability to obtain before operating equipment).
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels, barcodes, and freight markings accurately, and perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors, trailers, and designated warehouse areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight using handheld scanners and company systems.
