Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service, seeks a Senior Forest Ranger in Leesburg, FL. Duties include prevention, detection, suppression and wildfire program delivery across state lands.

Role requires firefighting credentials and a strong commitment to public safety. The incumbent will operate suppression equipment, assist with inspections, and coordinate with the Incident Command System while supporting landowners and industry partners.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience as a Forest Ranger with the Florida Forest Service; or three (3) years of similar work experience with another public wildland firefighting forestry organization.
• An associate’s degree in Forest Technology or Fire Science with (1) year of experience as referenced above.
• Florida Statute 633 requires that any person employed obtain a Firefighter Certificate Of Compliance.

Responsibilities

• Work is in forest fire prevention, detection, suppression and pre-suppression, providing technical forestry services to landowners and industry reps.
• Operate and maintain wildfire suppression equipment and participate in fire management reporting.
• Respond to emergencies and fulfill duties within the Incident Command System.
