Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service, seeks a fire-certified forester to lead forestry fire control and management initiatives in the Arcadia, FL region. The role includes field supervision, budget oversight, and collaboration with landowners and industry to sustain forest resources.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 6 years forestry experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Forestry with 2 years forestry experience.
• Master’s degree in Forestry with 1 year forestry experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage budget, staff, and resources for assigned programs.
• Supervise personnel, scheduling, training, and performance appraisals.
• Develop and implement forest management plans and related activities.
• Coordinate fire control, prevention, and suppression efforts within the area of responsibility.
• Train and coordinate with rural fire departments and landowners.
