Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking a Senior FOIA Analyst to support a large federal agency's legal mission. You will process FOIA requests, draft correspondence, and lead negotiations with requesters and stakeholders to ensure accurate, compliant disclosures.

Ideal candidates possess 3+ years FOIA experience, strong knowledge of FOIA exemptions, and the ability to work independently while communicating clearly. Security clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience processing FOIA requests.
• Knowledge of FOIA rules including exemptions b(4), b(5), b(6).
• Experience redacting records with trade secrets or confidential information.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Intake requests and prepare FOIA folders; enter data in tracking systems.
• Draft response letters and FOIA correspondence; initiate negotiations with requesters and stakeholders.
• Serve as liaison with requesters, other agencies, or appellants as needed.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicates; review for responsiveness.
• Ensure released materials comply with applicable exemptions.
