Job summary

Universal Logistics is seeking a Floor Supervisor to oversee cross dock operations at GM Lake Orion Assembly in Lake Orion, Michigan. You will lead hourly staff, coordinate inbound and outbound freight, and ensure safe, timely material movement to support GM production.

Responsibilities include coaching, productivity monitoring, and adherence to safety and customer requirements, with a focus on continuous improvement and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, manufacturing, or distribution.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
• Experience managing hourly employees and coordinating daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily cross dock operations supporting GM Lake Orion Assembly.
• Lead, coach, and develop hourly employees.
• Ensure timely loading, unloading, staging, and movement of materials.
• Monitor workflow, staffing levels, and productivity to meet goals.
• Maintain safety policy compliance and customer requirements.
• Investigate and resolve operational issues, discrepancies, and service interruptions.
• Coordinate with transportation providers, customers, and internal teams for uninterrupted material flow.
• Track and report KPIs related to safety, quality, productivity, and delivery performance.
• Support training, onboarding, and performance management of staff.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency and reduce costs.
