Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer I to support flight software development for Space Systems programs. You will work across requirements, design, coding and testing, with frequent on-orbit tests and opportunities to impact missions.

The role requires a strong background in embedded software, C/C++, RTOS or Embedded Linux, and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++ languages.
• Experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop application software to run within an RTOS and/or embedded Linux.
• Develop hardware drivers for IMUs, Star Trackers, Reaction Wheels and other sensors/actuators.
• Develop and maintain unit tests to run within CI.
• Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers to verify software/hardware functionality.
• Collaborate with systems and embedded engineers on developing and validating requirements.
• Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR) and code reviews.
• Assist with on-orbit flight operations.
