Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer I to help develop flight software for our Space Systems programs, from requirements through coding and testing. Your work may be on orbit within weeks and tested at our own launch sites.

You’ll develop RTOS/embedded Linux software, build hardware drivers for IMUs and star trackers, and collaborate with hardware, systems, and test engineers to verify functionality and ensure coding standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (aerospace, CS, EE)
• 5+ years of embedded software experience
• Proficiency in C and C++
• Experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements

Responsibilities

• Develop application software to run within RTOS and/or embedded Linux
• Develop hardware drivers for IMUs, star trackers, reaction wheels
• Develop and maintain unit tests within CI
• Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers
• Collaborate with systems and embedded engineers on requirements
• Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR)
• Assist with on-orbit flight operations
