Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory seeks an embedded software developer to design, implement, and test flight software for spacecraft. You will build a robust testing pipeline across unit, application and system levels and work with avionics, networking, and test teams to define interfaces and requirements.

Requires strong C/C++ expertise, scripting proficiency, Git experience, and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of software development experience.
• Expertise in C and C++.
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, Ruby or PERL).
• Experience with decentralized version control and configuration management systems, such as Git.

Responsibilities

• Using solid embedded practices to build the software that runs a spacecraft.
• Building and maintaining a robust testing pipeline at the unit, application and system testing levels.
• Communicating with other spacecraft teams to understand flight software interfaces and requirements.
• Design, implement and test software for embedded environments with modular, reusable code.
• Research and advocate for emerging software practices, architectures and languages.
