Job summary

Blue Origin in the United States is seeking a Flight Software Engineer III for the Mars Telecom Network. You will own embedded avionics software for spacecraft subsystems from requirements through verification, and help carry it through integration and into operations.

You will work in an Agile/DevOps environment, designing multi-threaded real-time software and supporting mission readiness activities, with relocation and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree or equivalent in computer, aerospace, or electrical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of embedded software development and testing experience including multi-threaded programming and real-time systems, particularly in C/C++.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills with program and technical leadership.
• Experience in requirement implementation and verification - Familiarity with Agile and DevOps processes and culture.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card) or lawfully admitted.

Responsibilities

• Independently design, develop, integrate, and test embedded avionics software for spacecraft subsystems in C and C++.
• Implement and verify software requirements derived from system and subsystem specifications, maintaining traceability.
• Develop multi-threaded, real-time software and the test environments needed to verify it.
• Lead debugging of complex software and hardware/software integration issues, and support anomaly investigations and root cause analysis.
• Define software interfaces with avionics, systems engineering, and other spacecraft subsystems.
• Conduct design and code reviews, and contribute to development practices in an Agile, DevOps environment.
• Communicate status and technical risks clearly to program and technical leadership.
• Support integration, test campaigns, and mission readiness activities as needed.
