Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an Embedded Software Engineer III to design, develop, and test flight software for the Blue Ring spacecraft. You will work across hardware interfaces and software lifecycles to ensure traceability from system specs to on-orbit operation.

The role requires 5+ years in embedded software, proficiency in C++, and Python for tooling and test automation. Travel up to 10% may be required; relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development.
• Proficiency in C++ programming in resource-constrained embedded environments.
• Experience with Python development for tooling, test automation, or scripting in an engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded flight software for the Blue Ring spacecraft, including hardware interface layers.
• Implement software requirements from system-level specifications with traceability.
• Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and hardware-in-the-loop test procedures.
• Collaborate with avionics, systems, and propulsion engineers to define software interfaces and resolve cross-discipline issues.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and peer reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex software and hardware/software integration issues in lab/test environments.
