Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer for the Mars Telecom Network. You will lead embedded avionics software development, architect and implement high-reliability real-time systems in C/C++, and steer software requirements and verification across the spacecraft lifecycle.

Applicants should have extensive experience in multi-component avionics, strong communication with leadership, and familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in computer, aerospace, or electrical engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of embedded software development and testing, with multi-threaded programming and real-time systems, in C/C++.
• Experience across spacecraft development and operations phases like proposals, design, production, integration, verification, and mission operations.
• Experience on multi-component, complex avionics for spacecraft, aircraft, or similar systems.
• Strong communication skills with program and executive leadership.
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps processes and culture.
• U.S. citizen or eligible for access to restricted information.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for major embedded avionics software subsystems and mentor engineers.
• Architect, design, develop, and deliver high-reliability, real-time software in C/C++ for spacecraft avionics.
• Own software requirements derivation and verification planning with traceability from requirements to verification.
• Contribute across spacecraft lifecycle: proposals, system definition, design, production, integration, verification, and operation.
• Lead design and code reviews, ensuring technical quality and mission assurance across deliverables.
• Lead integration and test activities across multi-component avionics systems; drive risk mitigation and root-cause analysis.
• Communicate technical status and risks to program and executive leadership.
• Contribute to proposals and technical documentation as needed.
