Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an experienced flight software engineering leader to guide a team through the full software lifecycle. You will architect, develop, and deliver high-reliability flight software for embedded and edge platforms in a safety-conscious culture.

The role emphasizes collaboration with systems engineering, avionics, GNC, and mission operations, along with design reviews and rigorous testing, including HIL/SIL. Occasional travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.
• 7+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• RTOS experience.
• Experience with microcontroller peripherals (ADC, DAC, I2C, SPI, UART).
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of software development for mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of flight software engineers through the full software development lifecycle.
• Architect, design, and deliver high-reliability flight software for embedded/edge platforms using C++.
• Provide day-to-day technical direction and mentorship to team members.
• Define and enforce software architecture standards and design patterns for mission-critical systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate system requirements into robust software solutions.
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure quality and mission assurance.
• Support integration/testing including HIL/SIL testing.
• Identify technical risks and drive root-cause analysis.
