Job summary

Rocket Lab USA seeks a Senior Flight Software Engineer I in Long Beach, CA. You will develop flight software for real-time systems, build drivers for IMUs, star trackers, and actuators, and create unit tests for CI pipelines.

You’ll collaborate with hardware and systems engineers, participate in design reviews, and support on-orbit operations. The role requires a Bachelor's in a relevant field, an active Secret clearance, 5+ years in embedded software, and proficiency in C/C++.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent
• Active Secret Clearance, with ability to obtain TS/SCI
• 5+ years of demonstrated applicable experience in embedded software development
• Proficiency in C and C++ languages
• Experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) or Embedded Linux
• U.S. citizenship is required, due to program requirements

Responsibilities

• Develop application software to run within an RTOS and/or embedded Linux
• Develop hardware drivers to interface to IMUs, Star Trackers, Reaction Wheels and other sensors/actuators
• Develop and maintain unit tests in a Continuous Integration framework
• Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers to verify functionality
• Collaborate with systems/embedded engineers in developing and validating requirements
• Participate in design reviews such as a PDR and CDR
• Assist with on-orbit flight operations
