Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer I to join our Space Systems team in Long Beach, CA. You will develop flight software for RTOS/embedded Linux, create drivers for spacecraft sensors, and contribute to end-to-end testing and on-orbit operations.

You will collaborate with hardware and systems engineers, participate in design reviews, and help ensure software meets mission requirements. A Secret clearance and US citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering/CS field.
• Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI.
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++.
• Experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux.
• U.S. citizenship is required for program compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop application software to run in RTOS and embedded Linux.
• Develop hardware drivers for IMUs, star trackers, reaction wheels, and sensors/actuators.
• Maintain unit tests in CI framework.
• Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers to verify system.
• Work with systems/embedded engineers on requirements and validation.
• Review code changes and ensure they meet coding standards.
• Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR).
• Assist with on-orbit flight operations.
