Job summary

Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Flight Software Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Flight Software Engineering Manager, you will drive development of nano-satellite vehicle software across projects, leading a team of junior engineers and ensuring fault-tolerant software.

On-site is preferred for hardware access, with remote work possible after onboarding; you will collaborate across engineering teams, develop tests, and participate in design reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent field.
• 8+ years (Staff Engineer - Level 4) developing C++ for embedded/critical systems.
• 12+ years (Principal Engineer - Level 5) developing C++ for embedded/critical systems.
• US Citizenship with ability to obtain DoD security clearance.
• Experience with GitHub or similar Git tool.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multiple engineering teams to establish software requirements.
• Technical lead for a satellite program and mentor junior engineers.
• Design, develop, and maintain fault‑tolerant software for nano-satellites.
• Develop software for payloads like imagers and communication devices.
• Create unit and regression tests; integrate in simulation and hardware environments.
• Participate in design reviews and customer communications.
