Job summary

Muon Space seeks a Staff Software Engineer with a TS clearance to join the satellite flight software team in Northern Virginia. You will design, develop, integrate, and test bare-metal/RTOS embedded software that runs on orbiting satellites.

The role requires strong C/C++ skills, deep embedded systems knowledge, and experience with ARM Cortex-M. You will collaborate across hardware, software, and cloud teams to deliver mission-critical capabilities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years software engineering experience in a team environment.
• Strong C/C++ programming with familiarity in other languages.
• Embedded systems fundamentals: resource-efficient design, drivers, RTOS, I/O and buses.

Responsibilities

• Define and build Muon’s satellite bus and payload platform.
• Translate concepts into designs and implementations for on-orbit operations.
• Design and support embedded software on satellite flight systems and peripherals (ARM Cortex-M).
• Evaluate technologies for the software foundation and provide technical leadership.
• Develop flight software and drivers; teach usage to others.
