Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation seeks an Engineering Specialist/Senior Engineering Specialist to join the EMFDD team, providing flight mechanics expertise for a range of national space missions. You will work on trajectory design, optimization, and performance analysis for missiles, space systems, and reentry vehicles.

Ideal candidates have extensive experience in astrodynamics and a strong background in algorithm development, software tools, and collaboration with government and contractor teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related technical discipline.
• Typically eight or more years of relevant technical work.
• Proficiency with one or more programming languages/tools: C, C++, Python, Fortran, MATLAB.

Responsibilities

• Trajectory design and optimization for hypersonic/high-speed systems, missiles, interceptors, and reentry vehicles.
• Missile system and missile defense engagement simulation and performance analysis.
• Constrained optimal control for vehicles with aerodynamic/propulsive forces.
• Contested space mission evaluation and system resiliency improvement.
• Development of new capabilities using optimal control and flight mechanics.
