Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation seeks an Engineering Specialist/Senior Engineering Specialist (Flight Mechanics) to provide deep analysis and design for trajectory optimization across orbital and atmospheric regimes. You’ll drive technical solutions, collaborate with partners, and support diverse programs in defense, civil, and commercial sectors.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in engineering/science, 8+ years of relevant work, and proficiency in C/C++, Python, Fortran, and MATLAB.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related technical discipline.
• Typically eight or more years of relevant technical work.
• Experience in space mission analysis/design, astrodynamics, optimization, trajectory simulation, or related fields.
• Proficiency with programming languages/tools listed above.

Responsibilities

• Trajectory design and optimization for hypersonic/high-speed systems, missiles, interceptors, and reentry vehicles.
• Missile system and defense engagement simulation and performance analysis.
• Multi-domain mission design across orbital and atmospheric regimes.
• Development of algorithms and software for stand-alone services and submodules.
• Support for external tools such as ASSET, GPOPS-II, SNOPT, POST, OTIS, GMAT, EMTG as appropriate.
