Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation seeks an Engineering Specialist – Flight Mechanics to join the Emerging Missions Flight Dynamics Department in the United States. You will provide flight mechanics expertise for cislunar missions, trajectory design, optimization, and system analysis across defense, civil, and commercial programs.

Responsibilities include applying tools like ASSET, GPOPS-II, SNOPT, POST, OTIS, Copernicus, GMAT, EMTG, and developing new capabilities for integrated services and submodules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related technical discipline.
• Typically eight or more years of relevant technical work.
• Experience in space mission analysis and design, astrodynamics, optimization, trajectory simulation.
• Proficiency in C, C++, Python, Fortran, MATLAB.
• Ability to lead multiple programs and act as technical POC.

Responsibilities

• Trajectory design and optimization for hypersonic/high-speed systems, missiles and reentry vehicles.
• Missile system and missile defense engagement simulation and analysis.
• Multi-domain mission design across orbital and atmospheric regimes.
• Develop algorithms and software for stand-alone services and submodules.
• Collaborate with customers and teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Support operational launch and anomaly resolution as needed.
