Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation seeks a Member of Technical Staff – Flight Mechanics for the EMFDD team. You will design and optimize trajectories for hypersonic systems, run defense simulations, and develop multi-domain mission concepts while collaborating with engineers to deliver robust, integrated solutions.

Requirements include a technical degree and 2+ years in related fields, proficiency in C/C++/Python, and the ability to travel ~10% domestically; a security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or related technical discipline.
• At least two years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience in space mission analysis, astrodynamics, algorithm design, software development or modeling.
• Proficiency with C, C++, Python, Fortran, or MATLAB.
• Willing to travel domestically (~10%) and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Trajectory design and optimization for hypersonic and space systems.
• Missile defense engagement simulation and performance analysis.
• Multi-domain mission concepts with constraint integration.
• Collaborate with engineering teams for integrated solutions.
• Develop algorithms and software to extend internal tool bases.
• Apply external tools such as ASSET, GPOPS-II, SNOPT, POST when appropriate.
