The Earth Orbit Flight Dynamics Department seeks an Engineering Specialist–Flight Mechanics to provide deep technical solutions for launch vehicles and spacecraft, collaborating with partners across national space programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aeronautical/astronautical engineering, physics or applied mathematics, or related disciplines.
• Eight or more years of experience in flight mechanics, astrodynamics, maneuver optimization, trajectory optimization, launch vehicle trajectory design, hypersonic vehicle modeling, or trajectory modeling and simulation.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C, C++, Fortran, Python, Linux, and/or MATLAB.
• Ability to operate independently and deliver high-quality, specialized end products.
• Willing to travel domestically ~10%.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance (TS/SSBI with SCI access) required.

Responsibilities

• Trajectory design and optimization for launch vehicles and spacecraft across LEO, MEO, HEO, GEO.
• Astrodynamics analysis including orbit propagation and maneuver design for transfers, stationkeeping, disposal, and reentry.
• Analyze vehicles with chemical and/or electric propulsion.
• Evaluate contested mission applications to assess performance and resiliency.
• Develop concepts of operations and incorporate constraints into space systems design.
