Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Melbourne, FL, seeks a Sr. Principal Flight Avionics Responsible Engineer to lead avionics integration for aircraft flight deck systems and to guide cross-functional teams through the definition and verification of requirements.

You will work on FMS, FMCs, PFDs, TAWS, CAS, and moving maps, ensuring compliance with certification standards and safety requirements while coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders. A DoD Top Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of related experience; or Master’s and 6 years; or Ph.D. and 4 years.
• Active DoD Top Secret Clearance and ability to maintain it.
• Experience with MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429 and Ethernet.
• Experience with avionics supplier management.
• Experience with flight certification standards (PBN, RNAV, RNP, CNS/ATM, DO-178/254/200/160).
• Experience with system modeling and requirements tools (Cameo, DOORS, Rhapsody).

Responsibilities

• Provide avionics integration engineering support for flight deck systems and components (FMS, FMCs, PFDs, TAWS, CAS, Moving Maps).
• Lead preparation and support for verification of installations and certification documents.
• Serve as an expert for Avionics Flight Management Integration and mentor teams.
• Lead development of system safety documents.
• Manage suppliers and review design data; define test requirements and support testing.
• Perform informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements in lab and troubleshoot hardware.
