Job summary

Merlin Labs in Boston is seeking an experienced systems engineer to lead architecture, requirements, and verification for autonomous flight systems. You will own significant parts of system architecture, interfaces, and verification plans on a small, agile team.

Collaborate with safety, hardware, and software teams to capture requirements and ensure robust validation. A BS/MS and 6–9 years in SE are expected, with strong emphasis on safety-critical aviation systems.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering; MS preferred.
• 6–9 years of systems engineering experience; more with MS/PhD.
• Experience in Flight Controls System development with ML or autonomy.
• Experience in flight control system development and verification.

Responsibilities

• Develop system engineering plans and processes for technical execution.
• Manage SE tasking and align disciplines for timely completion.
• Develop descriptions of features to be executed by subsystems.
• Develop Sub-System Requirements and Test Methods/Strategies.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with safety, hardware and software teams.
• Support verification and validation activities.
• Review SE artifacts with customers, suppliers and authorities.
• Own major portions of system architecture, interfaces and operation concepts.
