Job summary

Merlin Labs in Boston, MA, is hiring an Electrical Engineering Manager/Lead to spearhead the electrical architecture for our aircraft autonomy system. You will guide a team of engineers, set priorities, and drive design reviews and certification readiness.

You will own technical direction across power distribution, signal integrity, EMI/EMC, and integration with software and flight test. This on-site role requires leadership, lab execution, and collaboration with cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electronics, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering; MS preferred.
  • 8+ years of systems-level electrical design and integration experience in aviation/aerospace.
  • 2+ years of direct people management experience or demonstrated technical leadership.
  • Deep experience integrating and debugging systems containing COTS/MOTS modules, custom circuits, software, sensors, and human/machine interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of Ethernet, ARINC 429, RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 for design reviews and issue resolution.
  • Strong ability to review schematics, wiring diagrams, and subsystem block diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of electrical engineers responsible for the electrical architecture of the aircraft autonomy system.
  • Own technical planning and execution for the electrical engineering function across programs.
  • Establish and continuously improve engineering processes, design standards, and review practices.
  • Guide architectural decisions and design trade studies, including integration of COTS/MOTS subsystems.
  • Review and approve electrical design and fabrication drawings, test plans, and certification documents.
  • Partner with software, systems, mechanical, certification, and flight test teams to align deliverables with milestones.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard engineers; support career development and inclusive culture.
  • Serve as escalation point for technical issues in lab, field, and aircraft settings.
