Job summary

Merlin Labs, headquartered in Boston, seeks an experienced Systems Engineer to lead integration programs across civil-certified and military safety-critical avionics. You will drive requirements, architectures, interfaces, and verification while coordinating across hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, and test teams.

You will influence concepts of operation, assess certification plans, and work with customers, suppliers, and regulators to ensure safety and timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical/Aerospace/Systems Engineering or related field; MS preferred
  • 10+ years of systems engineering experience in FAA/EASA/Military certification programs (8+ years with MS)
  • Ability to lead as a Systems Engineer solving complex architectural or systems problems across aircraft integration and software
  • Experience guiding design across hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, and test disciplines
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools and processes
  • Hands-on experience integrating avionics and mission equipment to civil or military standards
  • Ability to develop system-level requirements, architecture, and interfaces and perform validation and verification
  • Familiarity with general aviation aircraft integration

Responsibilities

  • Guide system development and traceability from requirements capture to final demonstration
  • Facilitate development of operation concepts, system architecture, requirements, and certification plans
  • Collaborate across safety, hardware, simulation, and software teams to capture interfaces
  • Host design reviews for senior leadership across supporting disciplines
  • Manage systems engineering tasking and align disciplines for timely completion
  • Contribute to development of system engineering plans and processes as needed
  • Participate in artifact reviews with customers, suppliers, and regulators
